Elements of the social system
The social system is characterized by the following elements:
i. Faiths and Knowledge: The faiths and knowledge bring about the uniformity in the
behavior. They act as controlling agencies of different types of human societies
ii. Sentiment: Man does not live by reason alone. It is the sentiments such as filial, social,
notional, etc. that provides social integration and continuity.
iii. End Goal or object: The component of society an i.e. man fulfills his needs from society
which is the goal of a society.
iv. Ideals and Norms: Society lays down certain norms and ideals that lead to
the organization and stability of society. Due to them, human behavior does not
become deviant and they.
v. Status and Role: Every individual occupies a status and role defined by it.
vi. Power: Conflict is a part of a social system, and order is its aim. So, someone in society
is vested with the power to punish the guilty and reward those who set an example.
vii. Sanction: Society imposes penalty or punishment for deviances and rewards for good
deeds.
